As a member of the Dominant 7, Daniel will be releasing a new album entitled "14 Channels" in January 2010. To get a taste of the album, check out the track "An Ounce of Hope" (written by Daniel) in the music player at the bottom of the page.
Daniel currently studies with Bob Mintzer, John Daversa, and Jason Goldman, and plays alto saxophone in the prestigious Thornton Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Bob Mintzer at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music.
Daniel is the newest member of the Trojan Men a-capella group. Visit our website at www.thetrojanmen.com to hear some samples from our first album! The group has performed at LA Live, on NPR, and will be working on its second album this fall, an album which will include arrangements by Daniel.
Daniel is now performing on tenor saxophone and EWI with the up and coming hip-hop group, The Cleanse. Look for shows around the LA area with this group, the Thornton Jazz Orchestra, and Daniel's own trio/quartet/quintet.
About Daniel Weidlein
Daniel is a 20 year old accomplished saxophonist whose playing credits includes: Frank Wess, Yosvany Terry, Ambrose Akinmusire, John Gunther, Taylor Eigsti, Clare Church, John Gunther, The Air Force Falconaires, the Thornton Jazz Orchestra, the Concert Jazz Orchestra, the Colorado All-State Jazz Band, The Metropolitan Jazz Band All-Stars, the Colorado Mile High All-Stars Jazz Band.
His awards include the Stan Getz Outstanding Musician Award from the Stanford Jazz Festival, a merit award from the NFAA Young Arts national arts competition, as well as numerous awards from jazz festivals around Colorado.
